Holly Hill

As-Needed Museum Assistant

Holly Hill

A Wichita native, Holly moved to Manhattan in 2017 to pursue a degree in Finance or Accounting, with a History minor. Four years later, she ended up graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in History (and a minor in business). She stayed for graduate school, and is currently an MA student in the History department.

Though all of history is really cool, she chose to study a topic close to her heart: Southeast Asian refugee community building in Wichita in the 1970s and 1980s, inspired by her family’s experiences as refugees from Laos. Holly has a passion for sharing the stories and history of overlooked Asian Americans in the Midwest. A little preview of her thesis can be seen in the Fall 2023 issue of Kansas Kin, where she shared her family’s migration story to Kansas.

When not busy with her thesis, Holly also enjoys reading books for fun and not just school. They are mostly of the historical romance variety. She also enjoys the sometimes-aloof company of her two cats, a mother-daughter duo named Morrigan and Kida.
