Brantlee Shearmire

As-Needed Museum Assistant

Brantlee Shearmire

Brantlee grew up in the western Kansas town of Scott City, where he graduated from Scott Community High School in 2006.  He then attended Kansas State University, graduating in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history.  Throughout his undergraduate years, he worked at the Historic Costume and Textile Museum at Kansas State University.  During his senior year, he was awarded a research internship at the Chapman Center for Rural Studies.  Upon completion of his BA, Brantlee moved back to western Kansas where he worked on a family farm operating tractors and combines. He then took a job at a construction consulting firm in Wichita while his wife was attending graduate school at Wichita State University.  For the last six years, Brantlee has been a stay at home dad.

Brantlee and his family jumped at the opportunity to move back to Manhattan in the fall of 2021.  He has been happily married to his wife Devon for nearly a decade and together, they have three children ages 6, 4, and 2, and one golden retriever, Penny.  In his free time, Brantlee enjoys spending time with his family, watching K-State sports, reading, playing guitar, collecting vinyl records, traveling, gardening, working in his yard, or enjoying a fire his backyard.
