Lisa Jones

As-Needed Museum Assistant

Lisa Jones Lisa is a proud native Kansan, born and raised in Saline County where her ancestors first settled in the 1860s. An elementary education/family and child development major at K-State, she also taught preschool at the KSU-CDC while working on a master’s degree in Early Childhood Special Education. Hired by the Department of Defense to teach ECSE at Butzbach American School in Germany, she served from 1992-1999. Lisa met her husband-to-be while he was stationed at Ayers Kaserne and married in Aug 1998 in her hometown of Gypsum. Child #1 was born while stationed at Ft. Huachuca, AZ in Nov 1999 and child #2 came along while at Ft. Lewis, WA in Oct. 2001. After several more duty stations, they settled in Manhattan after hubby’s retirement from active duty in August 2020.  She served as administrator of Carroll Mansion Museum in Leavenworth. She was later hired by the Riley County Historical Society as the Pioneer Log Cabin host and then an as-needed museum assistant at the Riley County Historical Museum. Her projects here include working on archival boxes, giving Goodnow House tours, facilitating the bi-monthly RCHS newsletter, and other tasks as assigned.
