Linda Glasgow

Linda Glasgow grew up in California and Missouri. She enrolled in the University of Missouri-Columbia and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in American History. Professional training leading to an archival career began in 1975 at the Western Historical Manuscripts Collection, then located at the Elmer Ellis Library on the campus of the University of Missouri.

After moving to Manhattan in 1978, Linda was hired by the Riley County Historical Society as a part-time employee. She simultaneously audited classes in historic preservation at the K-State College of Architecture and was later hired as the researcher for the Manhattan Historical Survey. Eventually she was hired by the Riley County Historical Museum, where she currently serves as Curator of Archives & Library.

Linda served as president of the Riley County Historical Society in 1995. She later served as president of the Kansas Preservation Alliance. She currently serves as president of the Manhattan/Riley County Preservation Alliance and is an active member of the leadership team for Plains Modern, a statewide membership organization devoted to the appreciation and preservation of mid-20th Century architecture.

Special projects in Manhattan include fundraising for the rehabilitation of Manhattan’s historic Union Pacific Depot, Friends of Peace Memorial Auditorium, and the Friends of Johnny Kaw.

Linda and her husband, Larry, K-State professor emeritus, have two children and four grandchildren.
